Monitoring Station

If your system is monitored, it will call the monitoring station using your regular Bell Canada phone lines in the event of an emergency. The system will give detailed information of the type of emergency at the location. The monitoring station will know if the police, ambulance or fire department need to be dispatched. Most insurance companies will give a substantial discount on your insurance premiums if you have a monitored security system including smoke-detectors. Please call your insurance broker for the exact discount.

If the system is at a commercial premises, it can monitor who turns the system on or off at any time of the day or night. A record of this information is faxed to the customer on a monthly basis. This is referred to as monitoring with opening and closings.

A cellular back-up can also be installed, so if the Bell Canada telephone lines are compromised, the monitoring station will still receive cellular signals from the security system.

A high security or DVAC line can be installed by Bell Canada and then used by the security system to send and receive emergency signals to and from the monitoring station. These lines are constantly monitored and the monitoring station will know if they have been cut and can dispatch the authorities if this occurs.
